Have Faith in the Presence of the Holy Spirit

 The sermon explored the ministry of the Holy Spirit and the call to place active, deliberate faith in His presence within us. Drawing from John chapters 8, 14, and 16, the message reminded us that the Holy Spirit is not a distant force but a constant companion -- described in the Greek as paraclete, meaning counselor, helper, intercessor, advocate, strengthener, and standby. Just as Jesus ministered under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we too are invited to lean into that same presence 

Takeaways:

  • The Holy Spirit is another of the same kind as Jesus (John 14:16), meaning He is God's very presence living inside of us. We are never without help, wisdom, or strength, no matter how overwhelming our circumstances may appear.
  • Jesus modeled a life of dependence on the Holy Spirit, staying calm, quiet, and attentive before speaking or acting. We are encouraged to do the same -- listening from our spirit rather than reacting from our own understanding.
  • The supernatural peace Jesus promised in John 14:27 flows directly from the Holy Spirit. We can speak that peace boldly into troubled situations, trusting that the Holy Spirit within us is greater than any fear, confusion, or change we encounter.

We encourage you this week to pause and acknowledge the Holy Spirit's presence throughout your day. He is with you in the deep dark, ready to lift you up, guide you forward, and remind you that you are never alone.

Walking in the Spirit's Power and Authority

 Drawing from Luke 10, this sermon explores Jesus commissioning the seventy disciples and sending them out with divine authority to heal the sick, cast out demons, and proclaim the kingdom of God.  Spirit-led ministry is always characterized by supernatural power, and the church loses its effectiveness when it removes the work of the Holy Spirit from its doctrine and practice. Through personal testimony of physical healing received through praise, worship, and confessions of faith, the sermon illustrates that the same power Jesus gave the seventy is available to believers today. The message also addresses practical wisdom in ministry, the spiritual force of God's peace, the danger of rejecting the gospel, and the ultimate reason for rejoicing: that our names are written in heaven.

  • The peace of God is a powerful spiritual force that believers carry and can actively release. When entering any situation -- whether a home, a conversation, or a difficult circumstance -- declaring the peace of God is not merely a formality but a faith-filled act that can shift the atmosphere and open doors for ministry.
  • Spirit-led ministry is always characterized by power. When the church removes the supernatural from its doctrine and practice, it cuts itself off from what God intends to confirm His Word. Healing, deliverance, and signs following the preaching of the gospel are not relics of a past era -- they are part of the ongoing mission Jesus commissioned His followers to carry out.
  • Rejoicing in our salvation is foundational. Jesus reminded the 70 that while the authority they had been given was remarkable, their greatest reason for joy was that their names were written in heaven. No matter what we face, that truth remains unshakeable for every born-again believer. 

As you go through this week, we encourage you to spend time in the Word, make your confessions of faith, and remain sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Do not let the enemy intimidate you through any person or circumstance. You have been given authority in the name of Jesus Christ, and nothing that comes against you is beyond His power to overcome!
